Malefosse
(by Bardet & Dermaut)
See also: Comic Errors

1589.  In France, just like in the rest of Europe, various "flavors" of Protestantism (Calvinism, Anglicanism, Lutheranism) break the monopoly of the Roman Catholic church - and its power.  At that time France is torn between the Catholics lead by Henry Le Guise and his Holy League, and on the other side the duke of Navarra and the future king Henry IV, and his German and Swiss mercenary troops.  Malefosse tells of a small episode of what is called the War of the three Henrys.  (The third is King Henry II who reigns France at that time)
Interesting story, but poorly written, and it's too bad the characters seem to be limited to one expression.
