|1||Marie||Felix Ducharme, the local shopkeeper, has died. The whole village attends the funeral, but in the evening Marie has to carry her grief alone. And the next morning life goes on, as usual. Raynald sends a letter home from Montreal, Jean-Baptiste has broken his leg, Noël Poulin is getting help from the pastor to build a boat. And gradually Marie starts to pick up her life again, by plunging into the work the shop she now has to run on her own needs urgently...
|2||Serge||The kind Marie has let Serge, who was just passing by when the snow stopped him from traveling on, spend the night at her place, much to the dismay of the local gossips. After an intervention from the pastor he moves to a shed behind the shop, because the snow and his uncooperative motorbike force him to stay. And after helping butchering an uncooperative pig he even starts to blend in into the small society...
|On Gaëtan's 30th birthday perhaps his nicest present is Serge's chef's cap. The nicest surprise for the village is the return of the men, a sign that the winter is nearing its end. But the men don't quite appreciate the stylish wind Serge has brought to the village. The first confrontation is with Serge, but this only leads to a confrontation with the women...
|Marie is torn between her feelings for Serge, and what she knows about him. She has a hard time accepting things as they are. In het despair she confesses, but soon realises she has made a mistake. The father in the mean time tells Serge that Marie has confessed, and together with Noë they look for a solution that's honorable and acceptable for everyone...
