Hans is a historian, who travels through time for his job. More and more he collides with the rulers of The City, who see in him a threat for their own future.

Hans and Orchidee are sent on a mission without knowing the goal, and without arms, but as team-leaders. Upon arrival at the planet Xanaia, the other team-members explain him that they come to separate the original inhabitants from the mutants. Then Hans falls in the hands of reptile-looking creatures, and learns who the mutants really are... |

On the Dark Mountain, Hans and his friends have built a small happy community in the three years they spent there. Much against the wishes of Valsary, ruler of the city. No wonder, since on his futuro-screen he sees Hans as a victor, cheered at by the people. And Valsary has to try everything to wipe out that future image... |

Now that the city is celebrating the disappearance of Valsary, the real plot in which Valsary was just a pawn is being completed. Ardelia's soldiers hostage the city. They will only release it, or so they claim, if the citizens extradite Hans and Orchidee, so they can be expelled... |

During a mission, aimed to find possible bases in case of trouble with Ardelia, Hans and Orchidee are shot and they have to make a crash landing on what seems to be an uninhabited planet. Not a sound, nothing moves, there are only plants and trees. The attacking astronef lands on the same planet, and starts looking for them. The planet however seems to be some living being, and it is rather hostile to the intruders... |

Five years stranded on a planet. Orchidee and Hans have a girl called Mahonia, and they start to long for company. And that comes, a ship of the City has discovered traces of life on a remote planet, and Kylal comes to rescue them. The City has changed in the mean time. The control is now in the hands of a group of Wise Men. They try to protect the secrets of the City, by using children as the carriers. Mahonia is elected to become one of them... |

An inhabitant of the zone is found dead and mutilated. People from the zone suspect "hunters" from the City, since the deceased wanted to end the hunting and killing of people from the zone. During the next hunting party things go wrong - for the hunters. Now it's one of them that is found in bits and pieces. It is a man from a wealthy family, and they see their chance to accuse Hans and Kylal, hoping that this may lead to them having the power... |

The people from the outside flee towards the City in large numbers. They tell horrible tales about a killing and mutilating rainbow-fog. Hans goes to investigate, and gets killed. In the real City - the other was a parallel world - the council is aware of what happened in that world, and decides that something should be done. Hans goes there, not knowing what he'll find... |

Rhanis is wounded by one of Argor's black wolves, but he manages to send a video-message to Mahonia and Orchidee before he gets caught. The reason: Argor wants to know the secret of traveling through time, and Rhanis knows it. Orchidee and Mahonia rush towards the Black Mountain to rescue him... |
