Een avontuur zonder helden (An adventure without heroes) (Dany & Van Hamme) |
The plane from Corair crashed in the jungle 3 days ago. The survivors are starting to get organised, as it becomes apparent that help is not on its way. Tension rises almost immediately between those who want to wait, those who want to do something, and those who only want to watch others do something...
Zelie noord-zuid (Zelie north-south) (Cosey) |
A young African girl flies from Switzerland to Burkina-Faso. She is looking for an old friend, a girls she used to know when she still lived with her parents in Burkina-Faso. She has an appointment with Fred who will help her on the last bit through the country.
Irish Melody (Franz) |
The young Lester hasn't got an easy life. As if life is easy for the Irish at all, around 1840. But Lester is the bastard son of an English sailor, and for some that is enough to beat him for fun. Still, there are happy moments, when Tim the pedlar comes by (or is that more for his aunt...?), or when the daughter of an English lord looks at him, with big eyes like that of a roe...
Shamrock Song (Franz) |
Lester can stay on Ballymoss Stud, for a while at least. The stud is owned by an English woman who won it through a game of cards, but who never came to it. So the local governor sort of considers it his own playgrounds, and the Irish just have to swallow. But that is going to change...
Caatinga (Hermann) |
Diamantino,
son of farmers, finds his father dead, murdered by the rich neighbor.
Together with his brother they revenge their father's death, but only to
find the rest of the family butchered when they finally return
home. The brothers have no option but to leave and stay out of the
hands of the law. They end up in the gang of Clovis Mendes, a freedom fighter or a bandit, or both, depending on who's talking about him.
Hard but beautiful story, drawn in Hermann's own realistic style which gives it an extra dimension. |

Verhaal zonder helden: 20 jaar later (Story without heroes: 20 years later) (Dany & Van Hamme) |
Laurent Draillac, 32 and one of the survivors of a plain-crash 20 years ago, is kidnapped while his death is put en scene. This probably saved his life, since one after the other his fellow survivors have had "accidents". The search begins: who? Why? What is the connection with that crash, so long ago?
Het pension van dokter Eon 1 (The guest house of doctor Eon 1) (Griffo & Cothias) |
Gabrielle Lange, a journalist looking for another juicy story, visits Dr. Eon and his patients in a castle far away from everything in the Highlands. These patients are former celebrities, from the art- or the political world, but now their minds have wandered elsewhere. But then things start to happen that make her wonder whose reality is the true reality...
Het pension van dokter Eon 2 (The guest house of doctor Eon 2) (Griffo & Cothias) |
It rains and rains, Gabrielle is forced to return to the castle, accompanied by the villagers who can no longer stay in their flooded houses. The contact between the villagers and the patients is tense, to say the least. They arrive shortly after Jiminy Crickett was brought in bleeding. He died a few moments ago, and Gabrielle feels terribly guilty. At least, he should be dead, he has no more blood. But his disappearance seems the start of a series of events that becomes more and more incredible...
De boom van de twee lentes The tree of the two springs (Will&Co & Rudi Miel) |
Debtors are lurking around the corner, and to prevent he'd have to sell his ancestral castle the young Julien Saint-Rodrigues needs to go an a quest with an uncertain outcome: find out what happened to his ancestor three centuries ago, and hopefully recover his valuable sword. So together with his servant he leaves for a Carribean island, where he hopes to find the first clues... Will died while only a few of the pages of this story were drawn. After his death many of his colleagues finished this story as a tribute to him. You'll find, amongst others, pages made by Walthéry, Dany, Hermann, Derib, Franz, Geerts, Wasterlain, Roba, and many others. |
||
Western (Rosinsky & Van Hamme) |
Two brothers try to trick a man looking for his nephew to
pay a reward for "finding" him. But it runs not as they
wanted, and 3 people die and a young boy has to find his way through
life with one arm. He's not doing too bad, but after a while his
faith steers him inevitably. A story about greed, but also about how an unfair world can make people do things they don't really want to. Beautiful story. |
||
No Limits (Derib) |
Yann is 15. His family is falling apart and he feels helpless about it, there's nothing he can do. As a result he neglects school more and more and puts all his time and effort into skating. He acts real tough but inside he's a mess, he feels like circumstances control him, and not the other way round. Slowly he enters the path of criminality...
Manhattan Beach 1957 (Hermann & Yves H.) |

of the police for a few days, the police and her uncle Vernon. In the present tense the policeman has to investigate the brutal murder of a few young girls. But after a while the separation between both developments, now and in the past, become a bit vague for the policeman... |
||
Terreur 1 Terror 1 (Follet & Duchâteau) |
Cabinet Curtius is a collection of wax statues, made by the young Marie. She makes molds on deceased people, and there are plenty deceased today, as the setting is in Paris during the Revolution. She pays the executioner for turning a blind eye, but he wants her, not her money. That is the least of her worries though, now that the policeman Martial Jabot is starting an investigation against her. She herself could end up on the guillotine...
Mister George I (Labiano, Rodolphe & Le Tendre) |
George Price runs a small garage in a small town called Selby, Pennsylvania. He cannot remember anything from before the surgery he had to remove a brain tumor, and he has some other annoying side-effects, like seeming to have incorrect memories about where switches are or if he smoked or not. But all those are seen as a normal consequence of what he went through. Until one day he finds a file about him with a lot more information than ought to be in there, certainly considering the place where he found it...
Mister George II (Labiano, Rodolphe & Le Tendre) |
George wonders about who he really is. He tries to follow the few traces he has to his alleged past, but the only result is that a chase and he has to hide. One evening someone who obviously had a bad experience with him recognizes him - or someone looking like him at least...
The Girl from Ipanema (Hermann & Yves H.) |
Dorothy and Jennifer try some clothes at Horvath. Dorothy is a bit of a slut but Jennifer is just a country girl in the big city. Horvath kills Dorothy during a struggle for his gun, and panics. The mafia errand boy Jazz helps him get rid of the body, but while Horvath hides Jennifer runs away from Jazz. She is caught though, and the only evidence something happened is the maimed body the police finds the next day. Now the powergames between the police and the mafia can begin, with a corrupt cop in the middle... Tough, cynical story, but extremely well done. |
