Ulvön, or Ulv-island, or wolf-island, used to be just a calm spot for fisherman from Gävle, a place to rest a little and repair the boats. Out of this a small fisherman's village grew, which was the place of birth for the (in)famous Surströmming, or fermented herring. Nowadays it's a touristic haven for those seeking a calm quite place away from cars and loud noises and high pace. For us it was a two-day trip with only one goal: relax.
