This was the first time we went to Paris. Other than "a big city with a river and some monuments" we didn't really know what to expect, we were just curious. Well, I can tell you one thing: you need more than a couple of days to explore that city... We managed to see the Big Names (Eiffel tower, Arc de Triomphe, Place de la Concorde, Montmartre,..., we managed to see a few museums (Louvre of course, Musée d'Orsay). And we managed to figure out we will most definitely come back.
