Blott on the Landscape - Tom Sharpe
Sir Giles Lynchwood is married to lady Maud Handyman. Oh, love has nothing to do with it, maybe there was a little affection but that was a long time ago. No, sir Giles needed Handyman Hall. Unfortunately he would loose it after a divorce, so he needs a way to either get rid of lady Maud, or get rid of the hall and be compensated for it. Both together would be ideal of course.
A planned new motorway may help him get the compensation he needs, and then nothing stops him from divorcing Maud. But since he is the MP for his area, he has to officially object to the proposed route, while his more secret side can push the route through the landscape, and over his house. Maud however turns out to be a worthy opponent. So sir Giles needs more drastic schemes. And that's where things start to get out of hand...
Pure fun.
