Brainshare 2002 was in Barcelona. And of course I took a few days extra, and Annika and I decided to go there by car, and take our time to tour through the south of France first. So we had a sandwich in Fontaine de Vaucluse (where crystal-clear water comes out of the rocks), and a coffee in Roussillon, an ochre-painted village on an ochre-rock. You can see a bit of that on the view as seen from the top of the village. And then via the Camargue to Arles, where Vincent Van Gogh spent some time. Not much there reminds of him though, so we had a peek at some remains from the Romans, like the theatre and the amphitheater. Both are still used, one for plays and the other for bull-fights - and in between the kids play football.
And from there, to Spain. When we were almost at the border we decided to make a small detour, via Andorra. Which turned out to be quite a ride, over a 2500 m. high pass, still full of snow, then down again to the capital. Too bad we didn't have a lot of time, we had a booked hotel waiting for us in Barcelona.
Most of the pictures from Barcelona are by Annika. She had all the time - and no time enough - to roam the city while I attended Brainshare. You see Park Guell, of course Sagrada Familia, and some views in and around the cathedral. The last day and a half I too managed to sniff the city's atmosphere, and enjoy some Tappas and other delicious foods (a pleasant surprise by the way). Our last meal in Spain though was a brunch on a Mediterranean beach, a few kilometers north of Barcelona
